E-Gender
E-gender is an e-project supported by the European Social Fund that has as its objective to entice women to work in the ICT sector. With thousands of vacancies in the ICT sector, the ICT sector cannot afford to remain a man’s world. Both women and employers need to make a mind shift.
E-gender runs on the Actonomy xMP matching engine, which allows to match the competencies and interests of women – often lower educated women from various disciplines – with generic ICT profiles.
Six weeks long hostesses armed with PDAs attacked major Belgian cities, asking women to answer a questionnaire inquiring about their competencies and interests. The answers were sent via wireless connections to the matching platform, which matches the answers to generic ICT profiles. The application suggests possible generic functions in the ICT sector, based on matching of the competency profile and interests of the women who answered the questions.
